FOCCUS [Facilitating Open Couple Communication Understanding and Study] is
a leading international marriage preparation programme and pre-marital inventory
with editions in fourteen languages. It is used worldwide in conjunction with
educational courses such as HTB's Marriage Preparation Course.

FOCCUS is one of the tools which are readily available in the UK. It is available
online through facilitators listed at www.foccus.org.uk
The qualities and characteristics that distinguish the approved relationship
assessment tools are:
Independent and external reviewers have found the program to be effective.
The assessment tool has been found to be internally and externally valid by
research. The predictive validity of future marital satisfaction must be established
(demonstrating long term effectiveness of the instrument).
The assessment tool addresses personal, couple, and familial traits in order
to best help the couple be more aware of various roles they engage in, and
challenges that may arise as a result.
The assessment tool includes some additional information for the couple to
use if needed (i.e. counseling or materials to help the couple interpret the
results and the implications for the future.)
The relationship assessment tool is available in different languages.
The relationship assessment tool is available or tailored to diverse populations,
when necessary.
